Miele Dishwashing Detergents: UltraTabs, PowerDisk and Dishwasher Powder
When it comes to dishwashing detergents, Miele offers a few options that suit any lifestyle and preference. Get to know the difference between Miele UltraTabs, PowerDisk and Dishwasher Powder.
Miele UltraTabs
Miele UltraTabs are an all-in-one dishwasher detergent designed for use with Miele dishwashers. They offer a convenient cleaning solution, eliminating the need for separate dishwasher detergent, rinse aid, and dishwasher salt. UltraTabs are formulated to tackle tough messes, leaving your dishes sparkling clean and free of spots. They also contain rinse aid ingredients to promote drying and prevent water marks.
Miele PowerDisk
Manual dosing is a thing of the past when you have the PowerDisk. Designed specifically for AutoDos dishwashers, Miele PowerDisk boasts a convenient single-dose format, lasting for around a month of washes. Just like the UltraTabs, it goes beyond cleaning incorporating functions like rinse aid and glass protection.
Miele Dishwasher Powder
Miele dishwasher powder tackles tough messes and leaves your dishes sparkling clean, making it a powerful choice for all Miele dishwashers. Its integrated dispensing aids ensure you use the perfect amount for each wash. The powder boasts active oxygen for thorough cleaning and super enzymes that work effectively even at low temperatures. Plus, a glass protection formula safeguards your delicate glassware from corrosion.
Why Miele Dishwasher Salt Matters
What is Dishwasher Salt For?
Dishwasher salt helps to soften water to ensure that your dishes come out clean, shiny and free from water spots. Hard water contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium, also known as lime. Continuous use of hard water in your dishwasher can lead to limescale buildup in your appliance and on your dishware. Limescale can cause your glassware to turn cloudy over time. Thus, it is important to ensure that your dishwasher runs on soft water for the best results.
The Miele Dishwasher Salt is specially formulated for Miele dishwashers. The extra coarse grains dissolve gradually throughout the wash cycle, providing a consistent supply of salt for the water softener. This is important because the softening process needs a steady stream of salt to be effective.
Can Table Salt Be Used as an Alternative to Dishwasher Salt?
While you may be tempted to use table salt as an alternative to dishwasher salt in your Miele dishwasher, we do not recommend doing so. Table salt typically contains anti-caking agents that prevent them from clumping. These agents can damage your Miele dishwasher. The coarse texture of the Miele dishwasher salt helps prevent clogs in the softener mechanism of your Miele dishwasher.
Where Does the Dishwasher Salt Go in My Miele Dishwasher?
Miele dishwashers have a salt dispenser inside the appliance, next to the dishwasher filter. If this is your first time filling the salt reservoir, be sure to add water into it before the salt. Refer to your instruction manual for the correct amount of water to be poured into the salt reservoir. Once the dishwasher has been used for the first time, there is always sufficient water in the reservoir.
To fill the salt reservoir, first, remove the bottom dishwasher basket. Then, unscrew the dispenser cap and place the funnel provided over the reservoir. Pour the dishwasher salt into the reservoir until it is full. Clean any excess salt from around the reservoir opening and then screw the cap on again firmly. Then, place the dispenser cap back on.
Miele Rinse Aid: The Secret to Sparkling Dishes and Spot-Free Glassware
What Does Rinse Aid Do?
Have you ever seen water spots on your clean dishes after a dishwashing cycle? It may have left you wondering if your appliance isn’t working the way it should. Fret not, your Miele dishwasher is most likely functioning properly. You may just need some rinse aid!
Rinse aid is a drying agent that helps improve dishwasher drying performance and reduce water spots on dishes. Specially formulated for Miele dishwashers, Miele rinse aid ensures your glassware comes out spot-free. Plus, Miele rinse aids are phosphate-free, which is less harmful to the environment!
Where Does Rinse Aid Go in My Miele Dishwasher?

amount will be automatically dosed. The reservoir is located on the inside of the dishwasher door. To open up the reservoir, simply press the yellow tab open. Add rinse aid only until it is visible in the opening. Then, close the reservoir and wipe up any spilled rinse aid. This prevents over-foaming occurring during the next programme.
